A short novel or a longer short story? It never really gets going for me the characters are somewhat cliché as is the plot generally Its an okay read if you've half an hour to kill but its not great literature and the ending is both uninspiring and telegraphed some way off The story was funny and greatThe story was great and entertaining to readYou know how to hook a readers and keep them coming back for Thanks for letting me read this book This book was silly and an old fashioned detective story A short story A mummy is stolen from a museumA police procedural with overtones of human that held my interest This is a short novel can be downloaded free via any electronic book reader I got mine via the ibooks apps in my ipadWhat is it about? Two partners detectives investigating the theft of a resident MummyWhat I thought about it? The Story includes existing characters from an on going serieswell at least that is what I read I sure hope that is the case because I feel that I really had no time to learn enough about the main characters to be attached to or care about them If this is suppose to get me interested in the series it failed miserably The two chief characters both detectives are indeed very funny and have an interesting relationship but I found this short story to be a bit bland and boring It felt somewhat rushed in some parts dry in others and not truly suspenseful The fact that its a short storyshort novel is no excuse After reading Stephen King’s Everything is Eventual I realized that in a few short pages you can get scared happy relieved and scared again So The Bastard Mummy was not my cup of tea and I consider it a waste of hard drive space Follow detectives Finch and Elias in this novella which is an excerpt from the short story collection DEAD EVEN as they try to solve the mystery of a stolen mummy from the River City museum Part mystery part procedural with a little wise cracking along the way this story will satisfy River City fans waiting for the next installment and introduce Frank Zafiro to new readers Diverting would like to have seen it expanded with description and characterization This uick mystery book spent a lot of time to build up only to end pretty uickly I think it was meant as of a taster to this author’s workIt was fine but not my cup of teaTwo stars It was ok for a uick read
