REVIEW DIARY OF A ZOMBIE by Sergei LlaugerCAUTION Not your ordinary Zombie story DIARY OF A ZOMBIE is literary zombie fiction a metaphysical exploration of both a nearly empty planet and of one former person's interior landscape The narrator formerly Erico Lombardo of Verona Italy latterly resident of Barcelona Spain now zombie had inexplicably retained his consciousness if not his life vitality Erico is intellectual enough to be given to pondering metaphysical thoughts and ironically Ericko the zombie becomes instrumental in the process by which the world can eventually be reinstated Well written and leavened with a gentle touch of humor and a keen eye for observation DIARY OF A ZOMBIE is the thinking person's zombie novel i liked this book because it is not by any means your normal zombie apocalypse book its original and fresh and tells a heart warming story of love and sacrifice it also contains a good deal of humor WonderfulFear with humor a ver good combination with so much details that you can imagine yourself inside the story I really enjoy it Sergi Llauger's Diary of a Zombie is an outstanding perspective of the zombie apocalypse This is not your ordinary zombie novel in that it throws the reader into the point of view of the enemy rather than the typical humansurvivor perspective The entire format and writing style creates a page turning adventure from start to finish The relationship between the main protagonists is so powerful that I found myself tearing up at the book's conclusion Llauger sends the reader on a one of a kind adventure through the mind of an intelligent zombie who must struggle with his own internal demons while being considered a demon by those around him The character development in this entire novel is so well done that you truly feel as though you have personally created a relationship with each and every character that is introduced The action and obstacles that the protagonists must overcome are non stop from page one until the very end of the journey As I previously stated I found myself tearing up and hoping that the book would not end simply due to the fact that I was rooting for a happy ending Llauger actually manages to turn a zombie into the hero I highly recommend this novel to all readers whether you enjoy this particular genre or not This is a fantastic read with an amazing journey and overall message of finding that last bit of strength when you feel you having nothing left to give Diary of a Zombie could have been humorous or terrifying depending on the author's preference It tells the story of Erico Lombardo a zombie who unlike his shuffling counterparts retains his identity Erico has a good life now that all the fuss is over When the mood strikes he raids stores for designer clothes reads and watches movies while snacking on fresh maggotsHis comfortable afterlife is disrupted by the arrival of a killer cyborg intent on cleansing the city and two pesky humans who need his help Will Erico dredge up his neglected humanity and help the woman and young girlor will he leave them to their fate? The tone of the story changes as the protagonist evolves We see post apocalyptic Barcelona through the eyes of its only sentient zombie and share his dark humor and detachment from the horrors around him After meeting Anette and Paula he starts to reconnect with his lost humanity and the sensation is akin to rewarming a frostbitten extremity painful and unpleasant Erico wants nothing than to return to uiet zombie life but feels compelled to help the pairThe story kept me interested and I wondered whether there would be a Warm Hands or Night of the living dead conclusion right up to the end The protagonist's character development was very believable The tale effectively balanced realism and humor The book was originally written in Spanish I'd be curious to know whether the English version is significantly different My 2nd ever zombie book and the 2nd one I really really enjoyed Yes there is savagery and flesh eating and all the stuff one would associate with zombies but I am happy to say although there had been plenty of it they did not get the spotlight or the main focus It isn't so much a scary story to give one nightmares but rather an adventure a journey of growth by trials I read it like any other adventure story because the characters remained human and faced the same difficulties and bore the same weaknesses as any other human beingThough if it had been a movie I may have opted out of watching itLoved the ending loved the little urban legend loop hole the author left for his readers This is a translated book from the original Spanish so sometimes you find the wrong word but it doesn't take away from the enjoyment I got from thisThe twist is Erico is half human and half zombie while he doesn't feel pain or thinks he doesn't have emotions he does think and enjoys reading and watching films I really like the archangel it reminded me of nemesis from resident evil 3 and added the horror of remembering that character The archangel is sent into areas to destroy every livingunliving thingThis book is brutal a certain scene with Annette and a great read I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest reviewThe author presents a uniue take on the Zombie genre Sergi Llauger delivers a story from the zombie Enrico's perspectiveEnrico is philosophical and aware of the need to protect a young girl who could be humanity's salvationThe addition of the vicious and unrelenting Archangels is intriguingI recommend this book to the zombie genre fan who is looking for a uniue tale A really well spun tale A uniue situation with characters I cared about and a world that was fully developed Imagine The Road with the father character as a zombie Throw in some Mad Max blend well and bon appetite A very good story it may based on resident evil it was very creative and interesting
