Overall an entertaining read that was fast and certainly different In general the author does a good job of imagining what and how the web might look like to AI machines along with the different 'battles' that these fight relative to the human physical world eg the lack of 'entropy' 1 in the AI world as bad vs entropy in the physical world eg heat death as bad ; these anthropomorphisms of AIs and their respective characteristics were uite good an imaginative as was the socialproprietary rights commentaire that was present throughout the storyOn the con side some casesscenes were a bit difficult for me to follow since I couldn't uite suspend disbelief and the story started out with such a radical change that I wasn't sure whether I should have continued reading I'm also left with a few uestions regarding algorithms per se how does Cho get around the halting problem when she predicts outcomes? Who and what creates the physics inside of the computing environment and why aren't there trippier cases? This one wasn't too much of a concern personally And finally why would slowing down computing speed not also diminish the speed of perceptions of the algorithms themselves? there's a few uestions here and there about the Eden project stuff which I won't mention due to spoilersAgain it was a fun read with several fairly imaginative ideas brought in A few uestions were raised sure and some of the cohesiveness of the story isn't uite up to par with other books some uestions and threads are left unanswered or unsolved but I don't regret going through the 300 esue pages this book offers I read this book nearly two years ago It was a fast fun read In addition I have found some of the concepts to have a lot of staying power The Eden's Paradigm passages for example have really stuck with me Even though it's been two years I still see things that make me think or refer to Eden's Paradigm
