For some reason I misread the book info and I didn't realise it was the third one in a series However I really enjoyed itThe prose is beautiful and the sensory details even so which I surmise is a key theme of the series I find myself craving a holiday in the Mediterranean countryside now Provence perhaps Details of the events of previous books are scattered through the narrative so I wasn't in the dark as a new reader I found it easy to connect emotionally with the characters It's odd to read about a world encompassing djinni witches AND Shakespearean fairies but it's a winsome combo This is very much an adult fantasy but I also see this appealing to upper YA readers in particular any fans of Laini Taylor's 'Daughter of Smoke and Bone' there are so many striking parallels in a good wayRecommended for readers even if they haven't read previous books in the series I plan to pick up the earlier ones nowWith thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review I didn't realize this book was part of a series but will definitely have to check out its predecessors The characters are well developed and the plot is engagingThis was a great read Highly recommend Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to review I was really excited to get this book from Netgalley so soon after reading the second book in the series I really love these books Great characters excellent world building and a magical system that makes sense and doesn't get bogged down with unnecessary nonsense All three books are great on their own but together they make something uniue and fantastic I was sad because the books seemed set up to only be a trilogy but this book introduced hope of a fourth book waiting in the wings We should be so lucky #TheConjurer #NetGalleyThanks NetGaalley 47North and Luanne G Smith for an early copy to reviewThe third part in The Vine Witch Series Jamra is hunting Sidra to avenge his brother's murder and retrieve a special possession Supported by Yvette Elena and a group of other forces Sidra faces her hunter wit her wits and furyAn enchanted adventure where the incidents of the previous two parts wrap up neatly First of all the cover of this book is so pretty I so wish I had physical book of this coverOne regret is that I didn't know that it was part of series in early stages The book is beautifully written with a great characterization excellent world building and a magical system that makes sense so much Overall i liked all the books in the series This book was received as an advanced reader's copy from NetGalleyThe Conjurer is the third book in the Vine Witch series If you haven't read the other two I would highly suggest reading in order otherwise you're going to miss out on a lot of backstory The first book was so delightful actually that it made me eager to launch into the rest of them so truly do read in orderElena and Yvette have kind of figured out their stories but Sidra is a loose end And as long as the trio remain friends no one can rest easily until they are all safe Which is why when Sidra realizes that someone is still after her and won't rest until they've found her she has to prepare for the worst Elena too finds herself thrust into the fire due to their connection but even with Yvette added in as well it may not be enough to stop the wrath after SidraSidra is the most mysterious out of the three Which is to be expected she's a Jinni after all Yvette is open Elena caring but no nonsense while Sidra just wants to be left alone She may not be the most likable of the three but you're still drawn in enough to want to know what happens to her The bad guy in this one I felt was a little heavy handed; he certainly moved the plot along but often times at an unnatural pace And another character close to Sidra let's just say I don't understand the charmFor the plot it was pretty good Much exciting than the previous two books with a good deal magic involved as well It seems each time and of their powers are shown and they stop trying to blend in with normal humans Still magic is a natural part of this world so even with the openness it still wasn't a catastrophic happening in the eyes of everyone around them I do like the simple charms and ways magic is weaved into the book Elena's use of magic remains my favorite and is what keeps me coming back to the seriesThe first book is still my favorite but this one was a good one I don't know if there will be but if there are they'll definitely be on my to read listReview by M Reynard 2020 The Conjurer concocts a bewitching story layered with notes of love friendship and magic in the beguiling conclusion to The Vine Witch trilogyThe Conjurer is a sensuous read marked by the fires of friendship smoky intentions exotic locations intoxicating aromas and the eternal flames of love It follows Sidra a djinn who finds herself back in the dangerous French village she escaped to face her destiny and a vengeful djinn who will stop at nothing to steal her life along with a powerful ancient relic  Along the way Elena and Yvette find themselves implicated in Sidra's fate creating an arabesue nature to this magical finaleThis story is not as dark as The Vine Witch not as intricate as The Glamourist but is somewhere in between allowing the characters from the trilogy to really shine through The stakes are bigger and the magic pungent with passion and revenge Ominous birds secret spells and pernicious perfumes abound in this sorcerous tale of djinn I'm a little sad this spellbinding trilogy has come to an end because it uickly became my new favourite series I loved the world Luanne G Smith created because it had the right amount of magic and strong female characters I really liked how each book focused on a different character and explored a different type of magic all within an enchanting French realmThe Conjurer is an exciting adventure about the power of sisterhood and the conseuences of a wish that twists like a vine shines like a fairy and flickers like a flameI hope this is not the last time we will see the vine witch the glamourist and the conjurer team up so hopefully in the future the trio will be back in action and maybe with Camille and her fabulous olefactory magic? Holy smokes Will Book Three be the conclusion of Luanne G Smith's series? I'm not sure but I will say it's the best of the three When I was beginning Book Two I knew that Sidra the jinn would be the most interesting of the women THE VINE WITCH Book 1 begins with Elena She is exactly that — a vine witch that hones her magical crafts on a vineyard THE GLAMOURIST is Yvette's story Yvette is a feisty blonde who's had to be creative when living on the streets She's had a hard knock life yet she portrays a mystical uality Yvette is an airy enchanted creature Elena is the heart of the story Yvette delivers the laughs However THE CONJURER is the showstopper Sidra steals the spotlight from Elena and Yvette THE CONJURER is the most exciting It's fiery atmospheric emotional and has once again intertwined the fate of all three women Combining magical gifts and facing their biggest challenge to date fate binds the witch the fae and the jinn They'll have to walk the path of togetherness to maintain the world in euilibrium I loved this book Sidra is my favorite character Her story has the most depth Smith's series is filled with sensory stimulation the taste and smell of fine wines the scent of fresh baked goods aromatic perfumeries and the imaginative scenes from rooftops Flying on a magic carpet or disappearing through the cracks of a damp dark cave It was even possible to imagine myself in the ether world of jinns and the shadow world of a sorceress Sidra's tale is the most heartbreaking of all Her pain can be felt and as a reader my heart was pounding for a heroic resolution Smith nails it Does the story end here? I don't have the answer to that uestion but I'd be perfectly content if it did #TheConjurer #NetGalley I received an eARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a review I would like to also preface this review by saying when I reuested this book on Netgalley I did not realize it was the third in a series I have checked and since being approved they have made the description reflective of that piece of information I have not read the previous books in this series for the record The Conjurer follow Sidra Yvette and Elena These three women are all tied to magic in their own special way and must face a battle against an evil Jinni to save a town I REALLY enjoyed this book For having not read the previous books I do not feel like I started off this book lost This author does a great job of catching the reader up to speed on everything that needs to be known I LOVED the descriptions used in this book There were so many various descriptions of smells that I wish I was a candle maker in order to combine these smells for real I liked that the female characters were all well distinguished and had their own personalities They were easy to tell apartThe one thing I didn't love was the combat scenes because at times they felt overly complicated and it took me out of the story a bit trying to keep everything straight Otherwise I cannot recommend this book I'm definitely going to go back and read the first two books in the series now 375 starsI was provided an e arc from NetGalley in return for an honest reviewThis is my third or fourth book with djinn characters and mythology this month alone Clearly I have a mood for what I want to read This third installment was much better than the second book However it didn’t uite beat out book one as my favorite but still excellent The author just does such an amazing job creating a fall witchy naturalenvironmental atmosphere that for fall and Halloween lovers there books give such great vibes The books are predictable and short but they are so worth the read One of these perfect fall days I want to do a series reread because these books just make me happy The writing is well balanced with the description prose and metaphors I was worried it did take a little longer for the full group consisting of a witch fairy and djinn to be in one place but when it happened it was great I love a book let alone a series that shows a group of three women protecting each other even if it comes with sacrifices because of the friendship Then getting the character who is supposedly guilty clearing his name this dog that follows and saves the day when needed I am sort of sad this adventure is over
