Abby is a caring hardworking and loving human Which is all great except she's the daughter of two powerful dragon shifters She doesn't let that get her down though Abandoned by her father she works extra hard to care for herself and her sick mother Until one day one tiny moment changes everythingBasically Abby is a dragon shifter who is powerless A disappointment But she still has to live among her clan and work to provide for her and her mom She makes one decision and her whole world gets thrown upside down Not only is she tortured physically the awful king takes out his anger on her loved ones as well That got a little intense so warning for you there Nobody seems to want to stand up to the king even when they know he's wrong So Abby finally gets free and she runs Inadvertently she runs right to the people who started this whole turn of eventsThis book has a lot of action going on Between training and real fights there never seems to be a dull moment While there are multiple male dragon mates in this story we spend the majority of our time with just one He's a grumpy one too We all know I like those grumpy men We focus on Abby learning about herself and working towards her goal of revenge on the kingOf course things take a twisty turn at the end of the book and we are left in a bit of a panic Hopefully we won't have to wait too long until Shattered Promise comes out and we can find out what happens next I think this was a good mix of the two authors You can get a feel of both of their normal styles but I don't think one overpowered the other in any way Abigail has no magic In a word of dragon shifters that's considered a disgrace Because of this her father abandoned her and her mother After years of hard work as a single parent her mother fell ill and Abigail had to take charge and fend for them Day in and out Abigail worked hard to put food on their table and to pay for her mom's medicine All of this changes when she saves a strange dragon Suddenly she's a traitor and the King treated her as enemy number one When she loses everything that mattered to her Abigail swears to get revenge on the King for ruining her life This story follows Abigail as she discovers herself and learns that there is to her than what meets the eyeI love this story Abigail is a strong character who does what it takes to survive while maintaining a love for the life around her I love story with a kick butt female lead who is destined for greatnessThis is only the beginning of Abigail's story and I can't wait to read about what she'll do nextand about the hot dragon shifters An interesting world with different coloured dragons living in clans I did like the premise of the story I felt that there were certain areas of the characters that could do with some development and growth There were also a few sudden changes in the characters behaviour which were just a bit too sudden to ring true as to what we previously knew of the characters which were a bit odd Overall though I did think this book has good promise to be a good story and it was that which I enjoyed I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped I wouldAbigail is a human girl living among a dragon clanShe is forced to be the sole income for her household after her mother becomes ill early in Abby's childhoodBeing human among dragons has its ups and downsA positive being that Abby is able to tend to the animals easier than her dragon counterpartsIt is while being in the pens she notices dragons fighting in the air After watching one fall to the ground due to an injury that she comes to his aid not thinking of the conseuencesThings turn out far worse than she could have ever imagined yet she finds her destinyFirst of all I call cliffyThis book ends on a major cliffhanger that leaves you with a gaping mouth and a uiet expletive I enjoyed the characters in this book but we really only get to see the surface of themNothing in depth about themI also felt as if Abigail's character changed drastically after the first few chaptersI'm thinking this is mostly due to what she has suffered through but to me almost didn't seem like a natural progression in her characterShe seemed strong but aloof making sure not to bring too much attention to herself to cause unwanted ridicule Yet later on a backbone was developed and she became sarcasticI'm not saying these are horrible attributes to gain or that she shouldn't have I just didn't feel like I watched her develop become this person It's as if she just showed up all of a suddenI also feel as if I can tell this is written by two authorsI've read a few stories and didn't feel as if I could tell the difference between the twoI think the biggest thing to justify this reasoning is the use of certain words I don't think I can post them in the review without it being taken down but it has to do with your backsideOne is the American word and the other is the British use The gold and blue dragons had seemed to play an important role in the beginning of the story but yet we don't see much of them again until the end I know some of this is because they were out doing something for the camp yet this is never explainedHopefully we will see of them to come in the next bookThis leads me into my next pointSPOILER ALERT AHEADTo me the mating between Kris and Abby almost seemed unbelievableAbby grew up human in a dragon clan that wasn't allowed to speak of the old ways this is said in the story a few times and the dragons had arranged marriagesYet she somehow know about the strong urge to become one between natural matesEven if she did know this prior I think her characters would have uestioned it a bit I'm not implying it wasn't hot or even unnecessary because it wasIt just didn't feel right to meEspecially with how things had been progressing between RaphaelThis review may seem as if I'm completely bashing it and I'm notOverall I enjoyed the story and I'm curious to see where things goThere are several uestions I still have and I hope they get answered in the next bookThe biggest one being why did the King take Kris and Conor from the camp but in the end easily let them go after learning the death of Abigail? This is a scenario that didn't set well with me and opened up a lot of uestions I would recommend this book to people if they were asking about itI think it has the potential to be a great series Abigail was born to powerful dragons her mother was even a respected healer However she was born human causing her father enough shame that he abandoned her and her mother before she was even born As a young girl Abigail's mother became sick so she willingly assumed the duties of the household working long days in the fields and with the clan's livestock At the end of each long day alone with the goats she understood her place her worth felt at peace She felt strongly that she existed to help others too weak to help themselves It was also here that her life changed course Finishing up her duties Abigail observed a dragon fight between two of her clan's red dragons and three foreign dragons of gold purple and a never before seen blue dragon When the blue dragon is injured and falls to the ground Abigail feels compelled to help it With a previously unknown ability she helps heal the dragon allowing the three dragons to escape and landing her in the king's dungeon After nearly two weeks of torture and removing her every reason to live the king releases Abigail and she flees her clan Rescued by a rogue clan Abigail finally finds a home Here she finds her truth her strength her mates danger and loss Shattered Destiny is packed with action It is a non stop adventure Abigail is a strong lead female Determined and vengeful but not bitter She is broken and battered but there's still a lot of fight in her I love how she goes from goat herder to warrior I do not doubt the greatness she is destined for As far as the men go we only really spend time with one Raphael and as he's the grumpy sort we don't get to know him well I liked him well enough but wish that he had been brave enough to allow himself to follow his feelings and feel less regret We don't get to know Kris or Connor at all While completely absorbing the book has a few flawed moments They ranged from small oops; She had little appetite and could only eat one rabbit? To a continuing mystery; Abigail's dreamsvisions that gave us important information didn't seem to provoke any afterthought on her part Could she not remember them? To the one that bothered me the most; The king's determination to capture someone only to order their release the following day What? I felt like you could distinctly discern the different author's voices throughout the book so maybe this played a role in the inconsistencies It really didn't matter much since the book was entertaining enough that I wasn't bothered by the incongruities I look forward to of Abigail and the dragons I can't wait to see her future DNF 50% First of all Ms Wilson is an amazing author Love her starlight God series butthis one just fell flat for me like Visionary Investigator another one of her series This was another disappointing story unfortunately for a continuously growing issue that I keep seeing in other books The story and characters were very UNDERDEVELOPED First of allfor a story of this plot line to be so short 156 pgs? I could see why it was so short because everything was sorta rushed and not in depth the writing felt kinda shallow if that makes any sense I wish the story and the characters had time to develop and grow and esp SPOILER not mating right away when your character and personality didn’t grow enough to meet that stage in a relationship basically contradicting what your character should be acting like based on her personality and what she has been through in her past regardless of magic and whatnot Honestly I could have called this book a novella with how fast everything seemed to develop A good flushed out story would show growth and depth around 250 350 pgs worth to the characters and plot line and this one unfortunately fell flat and missed that mark And I’ve seen this in a lot of books lately To me imo what keeps the reader attached and unable to put a book down is the ability to keep the reader’s attention by taking them on a tour through a nice flushed out story that will keep you on your toes till the very last page And this story had sooo much potential with that plot line So I hope to see substantial growthdevelopment in the seuel if I decide to continue this series cause I hate investing in a book only to be disappointed These women can do no wrong for me I LOVE these authors The way they write characters worlds in unlike anyone elseShattered Destiny is the start to a new seriesAbigail is the main character She lives in a world with various colored clans of dragon shifters Not everyone can shift into a dragon Those who lack the ability can be called nulls It's not highly looked upon They lack certain extra abilities that those who can shift possess speed strength night vision etc But Abigail doesn't much care She has her daily job tending to the animals of her clan and returning home to her ill motherHer mother used to be a renowned healer but cannot do so any Her father is an unknown He left when Abigail was unborn because he knew she wouldn't be shifterAbigial finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and can't help but help just as her mother would have wanted Things go from bad to worse after that There's a good bit of torture that happens down the line The clan leaderking is NOT a good leader or personThe characters in this story are very intriguing Abigail is shy somewhat submissive but still resilient and independent though that's mostly been forced upon her being a social pariah In this book I feel like we're just beginning to see her come into her true self near the end because of the happenings in this storyIt does end on a bit of a cliffhanger but hey that's what book 2 is forGreat world great characters great story Definitely a must read reverse harem story I liked this book a lot but felt there were some issuesYou could tell it was written by multiple authors in a few areas by certain words cause of the different versions of English usedI felt like it was trying to put the main focus on the gold blue dragon in the beginning but then it was mainly about the purple dragon later on The blue gold dragon were off doing stuff and were really mentioned much till gold dragon shows up and immediately mates with Abigail The mating seemed very rushed They see each other and immediately get it on No introductions really it was just rushed over and purple dragon shows up and they head to campI also didn’t get why she was kept prisoner and beater for possibly knowing the three dragons the king is trying to find her and kidnaps two of the three dragons but is just going to release themShe only got released after he decided she didn’t know them but when he gets them he’s going to just let them go?Hopefully everything is explained in book two Even with the few issues I noticed I really did enjoy this book and I’m looking forward to book two This is a really good start to a new series by Yumoyori Wilson and Tamara White This book revolves around Abigail who is supposedly a human with no powers surrounded by different clans of dragons From the very first page the story held my attention and I was excited to see where it was going to go The evil King in the book brings out so much hate and disgust and this is because of the great authors writing skills I really want him to die and I want Abigail to be the one to bring him down Not everything is perfect in the book and I would have liked to know about all the characters and I think there needs to be character development in the next book There are so many unanswered uestions that I have which I hope get answered in the next book But saying that this is still a captivating story and really keeps the reader interested and keeps you coming back for A great book written by a couple of great authors and a highly recommended series for lovers of RH adventure dragons and powerful women This series has a lot of potential I love both Yumo and Tamara's work and can't wait to see what they can do togetherThis story is about Abigail who on one unlucky day has contact with 3 rogue dragons She is caught by the evil king and is put through some horrible torture to gain information on them We get to see Abigail meet 2 out of those 3 dragons in human form and realize they will be so much than friendsacuaintances Don't want to give too much away but I thought Gold would be my favorite but Purple definitely won out at the end of the book We get to see Abigail grow and get stronger towards the end of the book To be honest there was some awkward transitions in this book toward the end but if didnt deter me from liking the story I think Book 2 will be much better and I can't wait to get to know Blue 3
