Description A young boy named Kubo must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past The Bad Grampy looked a bit like peter CushingLoved this Loads of literary references such as the twins from Gormenghast I so need a revisit to that the sword in the stone that Harry Potter esue finaléWhile My Guitar Gently Weeps Regina Spektor Do you like adventure and culture? Well read Kubo and the Two Strings First read the book then watch the movie They might be the same thing but the book has an explanation for all the weird and bizarre things happening in the movie The book was really good in my opinion It was a weird funny and thrilling journey They made the story explain the movie very well Spoilers MIGHT be in this don't expect spoilers though Kubo and the Two Strings is about a story of a Japanese boy who goes on an adventure with a monkey to find the armor his father hid for so long He meets special characters through the journey He want the armor because he wants to defeat the moon king There is also a movie to go along with the book The Conflict is Person vs person because Kubo fights with the moon king towards the end It was the reason for his long journey The theme is to always have love as your main focus Kubo couldn't give up because he knew it was for the people he loved and cared the most I was satisfied with the fact that there was a book made from the movie Kubo was a good book and I really liked it I was okay with how the story line was laid out Some parts could improve with detail but it was after all okay Some parts made me confused even though it's a junior novel The author might want to add pages with descriptions but it was all fine since they're just getting the main Idea of each scene I thought the ending of the book would be a bit better if the author could make most of it clearer SpOiLerS Since Kubo just defeated a monster and the monster went back to Kubo's Grandfather he forgot everything The grandfather asked for his story At that part I was starting to uestion what story meant to them Later people explain his story out for him That really confused me Yes they are trying to make him seem to be a good person but not explaining what they are trying to do just makes the reader confused but I at least some part of it I rate the book 4 stars because at some parts I was very confused but at other parts it really made me feel some emotion Also because it was a funny and glorious adventure I would recommend this book to people who like a bit of comedy seriousness adventure and culture The book overall is really good It made me always want to read the next chapter It was thrilling to see how the characters act and what they say Kubo performs in the city where he recounts the story of Hanzo While he tells the adventures of Hanzo using his instrument a warrior materialises magically at the sound of the music through little pieces of paper that come out of his bag They fold into any forms necessary to the story Every evening audiences are mesmerised at the songs the magical visuals and the outgoing storyteller Kubo When kubo is not performing he looks after his sick mother and holds tight onto the stories she tells him as they fade with the deterioration of her healthI ordered the book after I saw the trailer for the movie adaptation It looked visually stunning and the story caught my attention Before I get to watch the movie I wanted to read the book first and be filled with the emotion that came with the writing It is a fantasy story that drags us into the mystical and ancient world of Japan I fell in love with the tale It is imaginative intelligent funny and light hearted The elements in the story hold perfectly together and create a consistent whole Every detail is there for a reason uestions fill your mind the you read and by the end of the tale all are answeredI am always scared of the transitions in a tiny book I always wonder if the writer will be able to transition the universe different aspects of the story and the character building in just a few pages Often writers find it a lot harder to write short stories than a novel Maybe one of the reasons are the transitioning aspects that have to be contrived in so very few pages Here the transitions flow and we ride with the characters through their journey without feeling the steps The author bridges the gaps using fun emotion and seriousness wellKubo reminds me both of Indiana jones for his bravery in this adventure like story and Harry potter for his wizard skills The book brings about the originality of Chinese traditions and their fables It is very descriptive so we easily venture right into the action I love the ending it is not as predictable as you may think when you go through the book I love the resolutionPlease check this one out The author’s imagery is great It is short but a full reading experience for both adults and childrenhttpscrazyinbookscom We read the book so we could watch the movie Easy to read and entertaining Strange I really enjoyed this novelization of the film Kubo and the Two Strings I am interested in seeing how the animators at Laika studios bring the story to life I was on the fence about the movie but this book now makes me want to go see it Erin read this in one day She literally dropped everything and read until the book was finished It was not an easy read for a 7 year old and I wonder if she understood everything but she could tell us the story and she gave the book top marks Now she can't wait to see the movie
