I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads The second in the series and follows straight on from the previous story but with a new couple as the central duoHaving witnessed Vann and Kip's Ds relationship and their close bond it was good to see them develop as a pairing The main focus of the story is liberating their clan from the oppression that has been the norm for so long I enjoyed the drama but preferred the revelations of the relationship between Vann and Kip I am looking forward to future installments as the new status uo takes effect This one was much better than the first book I really enjoyed it This book takes place right after the events of the first book Vann and Kip are on their way to their old compound to help fix things This compound is where Vann and Kip lived their lives in a prison They had to do everything that was ordered of them or suffer They needed to even keep their mating a secret from others as the whole compound was mentored by cameras and listening devices If they had ever been found out they most likely both would have been killedBecause of the fishbowl they lived in they learned to hide everything from others They also developed a Ds type of relationship They are not really able to explore the full aspects of their relationship until now And boy do they have a hot time with that The sex scenes were well written and the BDSM was mild in my opinionI also liked them because both Vann and Kip were finally able to be free to be themselves and not worry about discovery Both Vann and Kip have their issues but they deal with them together They also draw closer to each other They can be truly open about their wants and needs something both of them needed to fully start to heal from the way they were forced to liveOverall this was an enjoyable read I really like this series so far The world the author is building has both similar and uniue outlooks on the shifter world I look forward to books I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review through Book two Vann and Kip’s story mainly we start up right where we left off a plan in motion to rescue Vann’s family and Kip’s half siblings from the evil Alpha’s brother in which Vann and Kip escaped Vann is a nervous wreck but Kip his sub and mate has a calming effect on him which helps Vann focus to get the job done Kip on the other hand is releasing some built up anger that no one knew he had towards the brothers because of the treatment and death of his mother the children and himself Luckily now that the relationship is out the Ds side of Vann and Kip and is public and help center both or can it? Can these two finally find peace? We met these two in book one and learned a little about them so being able to develop that relationship through a second book helped like them better understand them and the dynamic they share Just like book one we have a lot of players and that list grew when we got introduced to Caleb and the families But the author does a good job keeping you engaged with the story and there rolls so not to get overwhelmed We also have a great follow through after the fight how Vann and Kip are settling in to a normal life not ruled by a dictator And unlike book one this one wraps up nicely I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review by Crystals Many Reviews Vann's Victory picks up shortly after the first book with Vann and Kip plus some of the Highgate wolves flying out to Crossways to liberate the pack that the two men escapedMost of the book elaborates on Vann and Kip's relationship their dynamics with each other their fears for the future and struggles with their freedom as well as insights into their bond and how it came to be The author spent some time revisiting as part of the plot's progression how Vann and Kip met what they went through at Crossways and how their relationship works with Kip assuming a submissive stance and Vann being Dominant For those not in the lifestyle or those who don't know much about a true BDSM relationship about power exchange their bond might seem strange but for me even though I don't practice BDSM myself it was very clear how much these two loved each otherThe main plot about liberating Crossways almost seemed too easy for my taste especially with how much build up there was in Vann's and Kip's minds The characterizations felt a little uneven at times but overall this was a good seuel to the first book and a promising installment to the series It's shaping up to be a rather nice combination of MM romance and action novels I received a free copy of this book from the publisher A positive review was not promised in return Tired of all the secrets Vann and Kip long to live their life out in the open but there is something they must do firstreturn to Vann’s childhood prison and right the wrongs in this emotionally gripping mm paranormal romance The story is a short and passionate romance that I think would have been a little better if it had been longer but only because the takedown of such scary evil people was a little anti climatic but it didn’t stop me from enjoying the story and I am looking forward to reading the next one PS The series is best read in seuence3 ½ STARSSee my full review at ThreeandHalfStarsThis book does suggest at an abusive home life and BDSM heavier on the SM If these bother you do not readThis story while detailed and intriguing just didn’t hit it with me The sex was hot but the story fell kind of flat for me I think it might have been better had the story been about Kip and Vann’s relationship and less about how they lived and had to always hide their relationshipI am intrigued to see if the next book will be about the relative that who is mentioned Maybe I would have enjoyed the story had I read the first of the series – who knowsI was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow ReadsAvidReader Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance® For a secondary storyline perspective there was much movement in second installment of the Highland Shifters series Vann's Victory sees our pack going to free Vann's former back from the tyrannical rule of their alpha What they find is nothing short of a prison While I appreciate that this needed to happen for many reasons I wanted to see growth in Vann and Kip's relationship
